In Memoriam: Egypt's Legendary Hani El Masri

Today Egypt lost an iconic artist; the man behind some of Egypt's most memorable Pop fiction characters, and an important part in the creation of blockbuster films like The Prince of Egypt.

Egypt's top animator, illustrator and all round artists passed away today, aged 64, leaving a gap in the Egyptian art scene after a long struggle with illness, having overcome Leukemia only to face further fatal complications after the years. The man behind iconic animations such as the Kimo Cono mascot and a slew of illustrated children's books, the artist also had long stints at pioneering animation firms that are now household names such as Walt Disney Imagineering, Dreamworks SKG, Warner Brothers and Steven Spielberg, playing an important role in several blockbuster films and cultural quirks.

Having won several awards for his work, this enigmatic artist has worked on the likes of The Prince of Egypt (1998), The Road to El Dorado (2001) and hit cartoon show Osmosis Jones. Check out some of the artist's iconic works below:
