Lanalou's New Children's Book Shares Palestine's Beauty

For years, parents have asked themselves a recurring question: how and when should I tell my child about Palestine? At Lanalou, an Egyptian brand catering to parents of young ones, the answer is as simple as it is creative: read them a children's book.

“I launched my brand after I had my first born, Nana. We now create educational products that will enable parents to help their kids’ education,” Lanalou founder, Farida El Sabh, told CairoScene. Lanalou’s products range from children’s books—available in English, Arabic, French, and German—to baby oil, kids shampoos, and accessories such as bags and pouches.

Against the backdrop of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, they have published a new book, written and crafted by Lanalou founder Farida El Sabh, showing children the inherent beauty found across the many cities of Palestine.“It’s a story about a boy who travels to six different cities in Palestine,” explained El Sabh. “With each city, we highlight for children something special about the place.”

Through the colourful print, El Sabh takes us on a journey that winds through the lush gardens of Jenin, the shimmering waters in the Yaffa harbour, the glory of the Aqsa mosque, and more.

“We have gotten a lot of adults who are buying the book simply for the heritage, history, and culture of Palestine. When you’re raising generations from a very young age, this is when you instil this love and this heritage.”
