55 ISIS Militants Captured by Egyptian Ground Forces

After the Egyptian attack on Islamic State targets in Libya in retaliation for the 21 beheaded Egyptians, Ansa News Agency has reported today that Egypt has launched a ground attack on the Libyan leg of ISIS and has managed to capture 55 militants affiliated with the terrorist group. Sky News Arabia has confirmed the report, though has not stated a specific number of those captured on the ground.

While Egyptian sources reported that Monday’s air attack caused the death of several ISIS fighters, Twitter accounts have denied such reports. As for many sources during military interventions, numbers have not been verified completely just yet.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry had neither confirmed nor denied that Egypt is taking the possibility of a ground attack into consideration this week. He is referenced by Al Jazeera to have said that all measures would be considered to fight ISIS in Libya, a country in chaos since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi.
