Cook Door's Gulf Invasion

Egypt's homegrown fast food chain is now serving hungry Kuwaitis as part of a 10 million LE investment into the Gulf...

Cairo is drowning in fast food chains but only a few of them can accurately be described as both successful AND local. We are of course referring to Cook Door and their brilliant double-friend ‘friskes’ fries that have cured many a hangover and fuelled many a late night in the office – not to mention their risqué Viagra sandwiches, chock-filled with all sorts of seafood. In fact, the homegrown chain has seen so much success recently, spanning a massive 62 branches over Egypt's main governorates, that they’ve managed to one-up all their competition and recently just opened their first branch in Kuwait.

Having already opened their first foreign branch in Saudi Arabia, they’re now feeding hungry Kuwaitis a taste of Egypt, as well as creating hundreds of new jobs there. The company is planning to spend 10 million EGP in their first few years in their new market, opening another two branches in Kuwait City by the end of the year. A total of 15 branches of Cook Door are set to invade Kuwait in total, by 2019. Meanwhile, Jeddah will be seeing two more branches shortly.

It’s always great to hear about Egyptian businesses making their mark abroad so here’s to breaking sandwiches with our Gulf neighbours!
