Uber Teams Up with Elite International Soccer for Amateur Football Tournament in Egypt

If you didn’t think Uber was already everywhere, well prepare to see them on the football pitch because they have teamed up with the Elite International Soccer (EIS) academy to bring you one of the finest amateur soccer leagues in the country. For just over 7 weeks, they are putting together the most professional amateur football league ever!

Starting March 5th and running until awards are given on May 14th, the fourth edition of the amateur tournament Footy 5 will take the same format as a professional league; complete with seasoned referees and tournament management and authentic jerseys. Everything will be professional but the players!

Footy 5 will take the same format as a professional league.

The internationally prolific EIS has fostered this competitive atmosphere amongst the players in the 8 teams in the league. Players will stay after their matches are finished to watch other teams play, and by doing so, scout out the competition and show good sportsmanship. After the awards ceremony, a last day tournament will be held, giving each team one last chance to redeem itself.Uber has been invading left, right, and centre since their operations began in Egypt. However, we might need Uber to do more for us than sponsor this event as it will be held at the Olympic Stadium and parking is limited. So, with the whole family coming down for this great springtime tournament, players, their families, and members of the audience are going to need a convoy of Ubers to get us there...maybe they picked a place with limited parking for a reason...so, we are completely dependent!

EIS is empowering underprivileged kids through football outreach programmes, held annually, and during which they give children and teens from all over Egypt world-class guidance by world-class coaches.

EIS also provides training camps, youth development programmes, college recruitment opportunities, and a ton of community outreach initiatives in which they partner with schools and NGOs like Plan International. They are trying to provide character building, teach teamwork, and intellectual skills to kids who are in need of some guidance. Kids aged 6-18 all need something that EIS provides. They even have a development camp held in El Gouna for girls and boys to develop their skills, confidence, and good sportsmanship? Did we say sportsmanship? Well, good sports-woman-ship as well because EIS also offers ll year round training programmes for women, whose teams may in the future be competing in a league of their own, so, while they play, the guys can cheerlead!

EIS is known for their scouting ability and their network in the US, so if you play well enough, you might go pro! Albeit in the US where you'll have to call it soccer and it'll be kind of like going pro in baseball here in Egypt. But pro is pro and we won’t complain if they pick us.

So if you've always dreamed of a FIFA Ballon D'or to call your own and prove those who have always doubted you wrong, Footy 5 could be your stepping stone!
