Finally, after years of waiting and months of speculation, flights to Russia have resumed. On April 11th  the first flight from Russia, flown by Aeroflot airlines, brought the first batch of passengers looking for a little sunshine. The passengers were greeted by with a lot of fanfare from the Cairo Airport Company and the Tourism Promotion Authority. Definitely getting first class treatment, the Russian group also had all of their airport procedures taken care of by the Egyptian Aviation Services company.

Aeroflot airlines will now be operating 3 flights weekly between Moscow and Cairo, so make sure you brush up on your Russian all you Sharm El Sheikh animation teams! Egypt Air has also gotten the green light to reinstate flights to Moscow from Cairo. The first flight will take off on Thursday, April 12th and there will also be discounts of up to 25% off in order to attract travelers and boost tourism. Hopefully Russian tourism in Egypt will increase to what it was before the 2015 bombing of a Metrojet flight killing all onboard.

With all of the security changes Egypt has made at its airports, Egyptian Airports are now finally up to Russian standards. Multiple visits were conducted by Russian security delegations to ensure that airport security is tight enough to resume flights.
