It’s a big week in sports for Egyptians as we have not only – thankfully –  qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in twenty-eight years, but we have also been casually teaching the world how it’s done in the Judo Grand Prix in Uzbekistan.

Twenty-nine-year-old judoka, Ramadan Darwish, just won a gold medal in the under 100 KG category at the 2017 Tashkent Grand Prix after taking down Russian opponent, Ilyasova, in the final tournament with a score of 1-0 according to Egyptian Streets.

The former-bronze-now-gold medalist already has a line-up of significant achievements under his belt. Darwish is a multiple-time African Champion; he has won Grand Prix in Qingdao in 2009, Tashkent 2014, Budapest 2015 as well as IJF number 2 in 2009. He has also represented Egypt in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games.

Watch out world; Egypt is finally coming for you – and making advantage of every bragging-right as we go.
