In case you've been living under a rock since NYE, there's an awesome new music video by Major Lazer & Showteck going viral. Our home girl Salma El Kashef, as well as the incredible DOP, Egyptian Hossam Shahine were part of the Egyptian crew that brought the project to life. The video, Believer, which was shot in Egypt, depicts the daily life of millions of struggling Syrian children, who are just trying to find joy and happiness amidst the civil war that continues to devastate their simplest dreams. The music video was uploaded on YouTube on January 2nd, and has already garnered over 1 million views.
Local cinematographer Salma El Kashef talked to us about how she got involved in the project, and her feelings about the experience: "I was picked by the Egyptian production house that is behind the video. Most of the crew was Egyptian. It was different than anything I've worked on before. We were shooting for three days straight, in tough conditions, barely taking any breaks, it was exhausting, but beautiful. I learnt so much and would do it all over again in a heartbeat!"
