Petroleum Discovered in Heliopolis

Yesterday, Youm7 reported – from The National Authority For Tunnels – that traces of petroleum were found in El Nozha neighbourhood of Heliopolis. The discovery was made during the process of underground drilling taking place in the area for the purpose of extending the underground metro line.

The traces have not yet been tracked, and while authorities are working on detecting the source, the construction has been deferred for three months. Both The National Authority for Tunnels and the partnering French construction company, Vinci, decided that the designated stop prior to El Nozha – which is Nadi El Shams – will be the last to be drilled for now. 

While the construction of the much-anticipated L.E 4.3 billion metro extension will witness an interruption, it will not affect the overall scheduled finish time of 2018.
