On the basis of violating ethical and moral standards, and using sexually explicit language, Egypt's Higher Media Council decided earlier today to pull the popular SNL Bel3araby variety show off air, Al Masry Al Youm reports.

The council moved to enact the decision after receiving complains from viewers, prompting the council to inform the board director of the media production company, Al Masreyoon, which owns the rights to SNL, with the decision, which is effective immediately.
