Dubai's commitment to becoming a global sporting hub takes a significant step forward with the approval of designs for two new football stadiums by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai. These state-of-the-art facilities, named Shabab Al Ahli and Al Wasl, are planned for the Al Rawayyah 3 and Al Jaddaf areas respectively, and will each boast a capacity of 20,000 individuals.

The designs showcase a focus on both aesthetics and functionality. The Shabab Al Ahli stadium embraces an avant-garde approach, featuring a circular roof supported by columns reminiscent of the moon. The stadium will be complemented by surrounding green spaces and walking areas, encouraging a vibrant community atmosphere. Sustainability also plays a key role, with the stadium incorporating eco-friendly systems and adhering to Dubai's smart city initiatives.

Meanwhile, the Al Wasl stadium prioritizes an eco-friendly design concept. Open green spaces and nearby sports fields will create a cohesive sporting complex, fostering a healthy and active environment.

This project aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, a strategic plan aimed at solidifying Dubai's position as a regional and global leader in the sporting arena.

While specific completion dates and construction costs remain undisclosed, Mattar Al Tayer, vice chairman of Dubai Sports Council, confirmed the selection of a specialized firm will soon be underway. This investment in infrastructure highlights the growing importance of the sports sector to Dubai's economy, currently contributing an estimated AED 4 billion (USD 1.08 billion) annually.
