UK Foreign Office Permits Thomas Cook Flights To Resume in Egypt

British travel agency Thomas Cook plan to resume flights to Egypt after an increase in demand from holidaymakers. The decision follows advice from the UK Foreign Office that travel to Egypt has now been deemed safe.

Thomas Cook will be running flights from the UK to Egypt and Turkey soon, as British customers will be favouring both destinations for the upcoming holiday season.

“Both destinations are wonderful countries, with great hotels, great beaches, nice people, and it’s really good value. People want to go back. We are not a security company; as long as we have the advice of the Foreign Office that we can fly to Egypt and Turkey, we offer a great product,” said Peter Frankhauser, Chief Executive of Thomas Cook, to BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme.

In early 2015, Egyptian tourism slumped following a Russian airplane crash over the Sinai Peninsula. Egypt has since been implementing more diligent security measures at all its airports. Multiple countries have since removed flight bans to Egypt following inspections of the new security measures at Egyptian airports.
