UN Team to Advise Egyptian Red Crescent on Gaza Aid at Rafah

The Egyptian government has approved a United Nations humanitarian and technical team to provide guidance to the Egyptian Red Crescent for delivering aid to Gaza through the Rafah Crossing, as confirmed by the United Nations spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric. The team will be based in the city of Al-Arish.

A report from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs revealed that on Monday, 50 trucks carrying essential supplies, such as food, water, medical items, medications, and hygiene products, entered Gaza through the Rafah border crossing. This brings the total number of trucks entering the region to 526 since October 21st. Notably, no fuel shipments have been transported to Gaza through the Rafah Crossing at this time.

The Rafah Crossing in Egypt plays a crucial role in providing aid to Gaza, serving as the sole access point to the besieged city. According to the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, an average of 50 injured Gazans pass through Rafah daily to access medical treatment.
