In a spot of touristic news this fine Monday morning, 150 Spanish tourists hailing from Madrid have touched down in the whimsically historic city of Aswan on Friday morning, as part of a charter tourist flight - the first of its kind from Spain in nine years, as reported by Egypt Independent.

According to tourism expert, Eman Ishaq, the group received a grand Nubian welcome post-landing at Aswan Airport and have quite the busy schedule exploring the sights, scenes and serenity of both Luxor and Aswan. The Temples of Philae, Kom Ombo, Edfu and the High Dam are just some of the landmarks the tourists are set to visit, along with numerous archaeological wonders from a time gone by.

This comes as a result of Egypt's presence in the Vitor International Tourism Fair in Madrid, where representatives are said to have secured deals with three Spanish tourism companies, in an effort to remedy the long-dormant Spanish tourism market that has been naught but stagnant since 2010. This just the first step to strengthening tourism from Spain, however, with plans afoot to arrange weekly flights between now and December.
