Egypt’s Under 20 Women’s Volleyball Team are African Champions for the Sixth Time in a Row

We’ve got some smashing news coming out of Kenya this morning – Egypt’s Under 20’s women’s volleyball team are African champions after defeating Rwanda in the final, according to Jambo News.

Clearly in full confidence after what was an easy win over Nigeria in the semi-finals, our girls beat Rwanda in similar fashion 25-18, 25-10 and 25-13 in straight sets to clinch the gold title at the Moi Sports Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.

This win means Egypt will represent Africa in the 2018 World’s Women Under 20 Championship, alongside Rwanda, who finished in second place.

Our girls are quite familiar with winning; they have now won the African trophy for the sixth time in a row, which makes them the most successful team in Africa, dubbing them the “Queens of the Continent”.

Last year, our volleyball champs had a competition to forget at the World Championships, after gaining only 1 point in their pool, behind Russia, Bulgaria, and Mexico.
