Over Half a Million Tourists Visited Red Sea Resorts in July Alone

Come for the sea, stay for the seafood.

Staff Writer

The month of July has seen a staggering increase in tourists to the various resorts of the Red Sea, totalling at about 505,710 tourists - an increase of over 130,000 tourists from June.

Here’s a handy dandy little breakdown of the number of tourists hailing from various nooks and crannies of the waking world:

  • 125,141 German tourists
  • 106,731 Egyptian tourists
  • 36,000 Czech tourists
  • 24,000 Polish and British tourists
  • 17,000 Ukrainian tourists
  • 16,500 Dutch tourists
  • 13,000 Austrian tourists
  • 12,000 Slovakian tourists
  • 11,000 Belarusian tourists
  • 10,700 Italian tourists
  • 8,700 French tourists
  • 8,000 Swiss tourists

British tourism to Egypt, although seemingly on the slow side of things, has been seeing a massive boost thanks to the renewed faith in the country’s political and security stability.

The resort town has seen quite the amount of touristic traffic throughout July, with hotel occupancy rates rising to 74% from June’s 63%. Following suit with the positive reception of the country’s recovering tourism sector are Hurghada at 73.72% occupancy, Safaga at 77.98%, al-Qoseir at 60.46%, and Marsa Alam at 73.76%.
