12 Egyptians Advance To Round One Of El Gouna International Squash Open

Twelve Egyptians advanced beyond the qualifying round at the El Gouna International Squash Open, competing until April 29th and vying for positions in the final round.

As the qualifying rounds wrap up at the 5th El Gouna International Squash Open (GISO), 12 of Egypt's finest squash players have advanced into Round One, which begins today. Round One will see Mohamed Elshorbagy play Mazen Hesham and Marwan Elshorbagy play Ramy Ashour; also competing are Mohamed Abeouelghar, Zahed Mohamed, Omar Mosaad, Omar Abdel Meguid, Fares Dessouki, Karim Abdel Gawad, Tarek Momen, and Ali Farag. Each of the players will be vying for a position in Round Two, which happens on Tuesday April 26, and ultimately for a position in the Final Round on Friday April 29th. 

The tournament is under the patronage of Egypt’s Tourism Authorities in an effort to promote Egyptian tourism. The Ministry of Youth and Sports is also backing GISO.

GISO is considered one of the biggest tournaments in the sport as it is a world-series even, with athletes from Egypt, England, France, Belgium, Spain, Colombia, Qatar, Kuwait, Australia, Switzerland, United Sates, Malaysia, India, Germany, Hong Kong, Netherlands, South Africa, Botswana, Finland, Scotland, Canada and Mexico all set to compete this year.
