9 Top Places and Trainers For Yoga in Cairo

In celebration of International Yoga Day we bring you our Cairo yoga favourites from instructors to centres.

The United Nations General Assembly has approved that the 21st of June be marked International Yoga Day. Cairo has been quick to pick up on the sport currently taking the world by storm, with major athletes recommending yoga as a must. Thus Yoga blessed Cairo as both a psychological and physical sport helping with flexibility, balance, strength and all around well being. So here’s a list of yoga spots and instructors we suggest you seek out:

BodyFit Egypt

BodyFit Egypt offer a range of yoga based classes but also focused on pilates so check their timetable carefully.

Teacher: Yoga Ali

Former banker and current certified Yogi, Ali teaches a number of Yoga styles, Akhanda Yoga (a holistic Hatha Yoga), Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra. His practice is based in Zamalek and he leads retreats across Egypt and abroad. Contact: 01211277710

Teacher: Sarah Yassin

Certified Yoga instructor from YogaWorks California, USA and a RYT-200 affiliated teacher with Yoga Alliance, Sarah began her yoga path in 2011 and is continuing to develop the yoga scene in Egypt. She also instructs at Yoga Vibes located in Group 95, building 19, studio 6, Rehab City.

Nun Center

Nun Center promotes an overall healthy lifestyle and yoga is definitely their strong point. Check out their fruitful schedule here. Also be sure to check if Cairo's favourite instructor Sarah Yassin is giving her class at Nun.

On The Mat

On The Mat is all about the Yoga, with classes in various forms focusing on everything yoga. With classes offering the different styles. Remember your first yoga class is for free! Namaste!

Mandala Yoga Retreats

 

What is interesting about Mandala is that they focus on retreats. Finding the right environment for yoga practice, the take you to gorgeous locations around Egypt for a true spiritual getaway.

Ashtanga Yoga Cairo

These guys are the real deal having kick started in 2001. Run by married couple Charlie and Alice Taylor-Rugman, both authorised by Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India, their course are for the more advanced and deeply committed.

Shanti Yoga Cairo


A diverse centew that offers a holistic approach to health, you can chose to have one on one sessions or join the group classes. They also organise excursions for some bonding in the desert.

“Just Breathe” is Yalla Yoga’s motto so we're sure there'll be a lot of woosah involved in this vibrant, young yoga studio which hosts guest yogis.
