All Egyptian Squash Final

For the first time in history, two Egyptians go head-to-head in the World Series of Squash final. Whether Ramy Ashour or Mohamed ElShorbagy take the trophy, Egypt wins.

Today is a historic day for Egyptians. No, we haven’t solved our problems, and no there isn't a bomb to report. Today is historic because for the first time ever in a World Series of Squash final, both players are Egyptian.

The competition that is taking place in Virginia has dwindle down to only two; Ramy Ashour and Mohamed Elshorbagy. Ashour entered the competition ranked 3rd, while Elshorbagy is ranked 4th in the world. Playing Ramy in the final is great and I'm really happy that we've been able to make it an all-Egyptian final,” Elshorbagy was quoted as saying to the Professional Squash Association website, adding that: It's the first ever all-Egyptian final in the World Series history which is great for our country and I think our matches are always interesting because we're both such attacking players.”

Fellow Egyptian Amr Shabana won the last two World Series finals, so the Egyptian squash legacy is safe as for whoever has the edge this year. Ashour has a history of dominating the squash world, but has recently returned from injury. The players met in an earlier round robin where Elshorbagy claimed a 2-0 victory. If we had to guess, Elshorbagy will likely take it, but it is never safe to bet against Ashour. Either way Egypt wins.
