With 2017 kicking in faster than any of us expected, before we even realise it, wedding season is almost upon us, and cute couples will soon be tying the knot and living their happily ever after, an rubbing it in your face. To warm you up and prepare you for the madness, the biggest wedding platform and exhibition in Egypt, and the second biggest in the world, Red Square's Our Wedding Carnival 5 (OWC5), will descend on Fairmont Heliopolis & Towers on the 17th of February in its grandest carnival to date!
To anyone who has married with a wedding celebration, we’re sure you know the panic and worry that haunts you in your sleep in the lead up to the big day. From the groom’s suit, to the bride’s dress, to shoes, flowers, photographers, music selection, decorations, bridesmaids, locations, and even the type of chairs you’ll sit in; it’s all one big fat over-complicated process that every bride and groom find dreadful. And if you’re not getting married or are struggling to know what that feels like, just imagine the morning of a very important exam that you’ve been studying for all night. And hours before the exam you feel like you just haven’t done enough, but you don’t have time to do more, so you think everything is just going to fall apart. That’s what it feels like to plan a wedding.
The point is, OWC5 showcases a mammoth collection of every single wedding-related thing you can possibly think of, from the shabka, all the way to the honeymoon in one place. Wedding managers, beauty/makeup exhibitors, fitness, and health professionals, fashion designers, travel organisers, home furniture, and even financial solutions.
You may be the fussiest person in the world, but with leading brands like Zanussi, El Sallab, Prima Gold, Rosa Clara, NBD Bank, and Sherif El Sergany on ground, OWC is the ultimate one-stop-shop for all things marriage.Talking to the Account Director behind the extravaganza, she revealed to us that the fifth edition of OWC is like no other. “We want to do something out of the box, something creative to show people that we are not just an exhibition, but also a platform to showcase raw talent,” Dina Nour tells us.
On the evening of the carnival, a fashion show will be dedicated to showcasing various young and upcoming designers including the well-established Sara Onsi, who will be presenting evening and bridal gowns made of paper. Syrian haute couture designer Ayman Lahmouni will also put his simple and unconventionally glamorous gowns on display, and so will many other young designers from the fashion world. “You can also expect a brilliant hair show by Kriss who will be doing something completely new,” Nour tells us, excited.
As if that wasn’t enough already, OWC5 is packing even more opportunities into the event by hosting the first ever OWC5’s Got Talent in the Middle East. The competition provides fashion designers, wedding planners, photographers, videographers, makeup artists, and hairstylists the creative space to submit entries online where a jury will select the best and most creative entry in each field. Winners will receive 5000 LE, and a free course from the expert jury. Oh, and one more thing - we swear we’re almost done, Mahmoud El Esseily will be performing for the first time at a carnival of this kind. You’re welcome. Our Wedding Carnival 5 is organised by Red Square.
