FOX Drama Hieroglyph Cancelled

Before it even hit the airwaves, the American network's ancient Egyptian drama has been axed. And judging by the trailer, we don't blame them.

FOX Drama Hieroglyph Cancelled

We recently reported on the the FOX show that was supposed to rival Game of Thrones, set in ancient Egypt and to be filmed in Egypt. The plot lines follows a notorious thief who was plucked from prison to serve the Pharaoh, navigating palace intrigue, seductive concubines, criminals and even a few divine sorcerers. Well, that should be followed as there's no plot at all any more after FOX decided to cancel the show before it had even aired due to creative differences, which in the Sshowbiz world probably means it was a load of rubbish and someone got fired.

It's a strange decision seeing as the show was ordered straight to air, bypassing the usual pilot process and it's even rarer that such a costly series would be cut at this stage. Although it may be ressurected on a different network, having watched the trailer we wouldn't particularly mind if it stays dead instead of having ancient Egypt depicted by a bunch of agnsty middle aged white men in some sort of Vampie Diaries meets Zahi Hawass mockumentary.
