NoiseSessions X Series Spotlighting MENA's Scenes Kicks Off Jan 16th
SceneNoise’s NoiseSessions X party series launches January 16th at CJC, spotlighting DXB’s underground clubbing community.
Five years ago SceneNoise launched NoiseSessions, Egypt’s first live streamed party series that provided an opportunity for young up and coming Cairene selectors to strut their stuff alongside established DJs.
Many of the line-ups went on to become household acts and led us to launching Fresh Meat, our ongoing event series solely focused on earthing emerging Cairo’s dance music talent.
But since we’ve wanted to provide a platform to the artists and collectives that have really defined dance music in their city, not just in SceneNoise’s hometown of Cairo but across the Middle East and North Africa.
And so this year NoiseSessions is reborn as NoiseSessions X, a pan-Arab showcase that spotlights the best of MENA’s music scenes with a monthly event that focuses on a specific city, and the artists and collectives that have shaped that city's underground nightlife. Each event will have a Cairo leg hosted at Cairo Jazz Club followed by a return leg hosted with a different line up in that city. #NoiseSessions X kicks off on Tuesday, January 16th with an ode to Dubai’s burgeoning dance music communities. In a city known for its glitz, glam and grandiose for years there has been a scene emerging fighting the transient nature of the city, continually providing safe spaces for people to connect and dance. Whilst there are many entities who are currently shaping Dubai’s underground, and we would love to have brought them all over (unfortunately we don’t have that kind of Dubai money), for the Cairo leg we are spotlighting Analog Room one of the cities longest running techno club nights represented by Bazzzuk and Flipside, DXB’s beloved vinyl record store and culture space represented by Shadi Megalllaa. They’ll be joined on the line-up by one of our favourite Cairo selectors Aroussi and versatile budding DJ Youssef Yasser. Stay tuned for details of the return leg in Dubai where we’ll have the opportunity to showcase more brilliant artists and collectives from the city.
