Trailblazing Saudi Rock Band Seera Release First Single ‘Junoon Almal’

Seera is a four-member all-female Arab Psychedelic-Rock fusion band based in Riyadh who recently had their debut live show on May 4th at The Warehouse. Albeit not having released a single track prior to the show, they sold out the venue with over 250 attendees.

The band has finally just released their debut single “Junoon Almal” yesterday, and was it worth the wait.

The song starts off with a raunchy bass line which continues throughout the whole song, serving as a maestro guiding the rest of the song’s composition, before overdriven electric guitar riffs come in, contrasting with the unblemished keys.

The soulful yet commanding voice of Nora the Keyboardist enters with a verse on how humanity has become crazed with money and how it drives us away from our humane tendencies.

Halfway through Haya incorporates smooth electric guitar licks infused with a unique oriental essence, giving way to a classical piano solo that leads to the song’s soft decrescendo. We’re suddenly thrown into a deep psychedelic ambiance, with arpeggiating notes and drums that create a steady heartbeat pulsing beneath swirling soundscapes, urging listeners to immerse themselves in the track.

“For our band, the song represents a fusion of our individual experiences and influences, as well as a celebration of our shared identity and musical roots. We hope that through our music, we can inspire others to embrace their heritage and express themselves freely." Seera’s Drummer, Thing, tells SceneNoise.

The band's seamless fusion of psychedelic-rock with traditional arabian elements results in a captivating soundscape that is both culturally significant and universally appealing. Their ability to maintain a delicate balance between the ethereal and the grounded is the cherry on top.

According to the band, we can expect an EP by the end of the year and an LP in summer of 2024. Seera is set to take the stage tomorrow, July 27th, in Jeddah’s Makan Music Center, with Jeddah based indie rock band Strangers opening for them.
