This Eid we’ll be seeing Ras Shetan welcome Al-Nuqtah to its ever-growing list of festivals. What sets this event apart from others in Sinai is its lineup. It’s one of the most musically unorthodox events to hit the peninsula's festival circuit in a while. The three-day gathering will host acts from around the region and feature some of the most avantgarde names to come out of Egypt, Jordan, and Palestine.

The festival, taking place between the 1st and 3rd of September at Ras Shetan’s Free Beach, located in Bir Suwair, is a Jordanian endeavour led by organiser Abdallah Taher. And when we asked him about his choice of venue he said “The distance from Amman to the location is 385 KM, on the other hand it’s about 460 KM from Cairo. It’s almost in the centre.” The line up features Egyptian experimental artists ZULI, $$$TAG$$$ (Tag Money) and AlSharif Tor5y. All three acts are known for their hard-hitting and non-conformist approach to electronic music. While artists like Shamsa, Shusmo, and Luteka play a huge selection of disco, house, techno, and U.K bass - aside to their ambient and experimental side - ensuring diversity and eclecticism.Joining them from Egypt also will be producer and multi-instrumentalist BLUFRANK, fresh off the release of his four-track EP I Am Fine on British label Anti Skate. And last but not least, Ramallah’s glitch-hop wizard Muqata’a will round things up with his intense grinding productions.

We asked Rubdallah to tell us a little bit on what he looks for when he curated lineup of artists for Al-Nuqtah, he told us “I pay attention to what’s happening regionally and try to stay updated on what’s happening to the fullest of my capabilities. Digesting each producer’s work takes some time but is essential to helping me understand where, why, and how it could work. The goal is to create an experience that flows well.”

So if you’re a music purest looking to travel on Eid for once, now you can. With Al-Nuqtah and its selection of music, you know it can’t attract the wrong crowd. Bills hopes the festival goers will "Get to experience a positive environment where they feel 100 percent safe to fully express themselves on and off the dance floor while enjoying a sensible variety of quality music on the shore.” You can reserve your spot via their Google form with a variety of packages to choose from.
