Cairo Calling's Homecoming

Hoooooooooooorrrrraaaayyyyy! We realise we mispelt hooray, but we can't contain our excitement for the Cairo Calling programme's home-coming at D-CAF on Thursday 27th March. For those who don't remember us writing about the first leg of this monumental collaboration back in January, Cairo Calling is essentially a ground-breaking initiative that brought together both Egyptian Shaabi artists and UK Electronic producers at the legendary Boiler Room in London, live streaming the results of the musical maddness that ensued.

For the second instalment of Cairo Calling, 100Copies Music and UK-based broadcaster, Rinse FM are proud to be bringing the collaboration to Cairo. Supported by the British Council, Cairo Calling aims to fuse with Mahraganat/Shaabi music with London's electronic music scene, exposing the music hungry crowds at Shehrazad Club to the explosive results of two underground forces joining together.

Descending on D-CAF are UK participants Kode 9, Artwork, Faze Miyake, Pinch, Mumdance who will be paired with Egyptian artists; Figo, Sadat, Diesel, Knka, and Mahmoud Refaat. This is the first collaboration on a massive scale, and will help momentum grow with the hopes of Cairo Cailling becoming an on-going series of take-overs and documentaries introducing to Shaabi/Mahraganat to a Western audience via Rinse TV and an album released with tracks produced from the project.

This unforgettable event will be taking place on Thursday March 27th, during the amazing D-CAF, at the always fun Shehrazad Club on Alfy Street. For ticket information check out Tazkarty.
