The Czechs are big on music, Prague is one of the many European hubs for different styles of music, and for years it has been at the forefront of the continent's avant-garde scene through its numerous venues and events showing a diverse range of acts that play a wide array of different sounds.

Mydy Rabycard is a four-piece progressive electro-swing outfit - the first Czech band embracing this specific style - that has been met with international acclaim. Their lead singer and front woman Žofie Dařbujánová embodies theatrical performance as her stage antics are a thrill, and her voice is riveting - demanding the listener's full attention.

The rest of the outfit's members play equally important roles. Saxophonist Mikuláš, bass guitarist Honza, and Nèro Scartch on synthesisers bring the band together, each serving a prominent position in the band's sonic and aesthetic aspects.

Cairo Jazz Club has continually brought avant-garde musical ensembles to their stage in an effort to expose our local crowd to international acts that are pioneering their respective sounds. On this specific event, with the cause of showcasing world music, CJC will be pairing the Czech band with Palestinian DJ Sotusura and our very own local sensation; Safi.

Together, Safi and Sotusura will play an extended set of world music selections, with a big focus on African and Middle Eastern sounds. This collaboration between the two DJs has us intrigued as both have been showing large promise within the domains of world music that can make you dance - we can’t wait to hear the result when they combine forces.
