Late last year, we were torn apart by the news of the sudden closure of Downtown Cairo’s iconic After Eight, with no plans of reopening - at least not at the same venue. We have just received word that their newest expansion has, in fact, been confirmed. In what is now known as Underground Cairo, the historic entertainment and hospitality brand that is After Eight, shall be reincarnated.
In the two story location on Syria Street in Mohandseen, they will be offering a couple of different settings. The first will be taking the form of a gastro-pub located on the ground floor, which opens its doors by the day for the early birds looking to pair their home made food with their favourite beer in a cozy setting. The upper floor will host a bar/lounge area where the dance floor will be located and where all the talented musicians who make up Underground’s entertainment schedule will be performing.
Their migration serves to expand the brand. Underground is aiming to become a cultural hub for musicians and artists to meet up, hang out, and showcase their talents. The team behind After Eight seeks to build on that, where they are set to bring Underground’s musical entertainment schedule with a slew of different weekly nights covering a variety of musical genres.Regulars and crowd favourites such as the Basheer Band, Salalem, and DJ Dina El Ghareeb will continue to deliver their signature sounds, providing you with a diverse choice of musical nights spread out across the week, more artists will be wild cards, where bookings will vary every night.Underground also offers 20% off on Mondays for AUC IDs, to make the night even more special. After Eight has always been a unique name with an unparalleled atmosphere, where people from different backgrounds and age groups mingle and have fun. Their new expansion has been highly anticipated, and is sure to be a defining moment in their ongoing path.
